Supervisor's Message
Welcome to the second half of the 2006-2007
school year. In just a few short months, summer vacation will be here
and we will be watching the flowers grow. But for now, there are some
things we need to think about.
It is cold and flu season and there are
some things we can do to minimize the spread of both sickness. Please
remind your student to wash his/her hands frequently, with soap. The
more often we all do this, the better chance we have of avoiding those
germs that seem to be everywhere. Secondly, remind students to cover
their coughs and sneezes. This, too, will help keep the germs out of
the air.
If, however, your child gets sick, is
running a fever or throwing up, please do not send him or her to school.
Sick students cannot learn. We will provide makeup work when the students
return to school.
For the parents of preschoolers and Young
5’s, it is time to think about the elementary school the students
will attend. Parents will have an opportunity to meet with building
administrators and kindergarten teachers at the District Kindergarten
Meeting to be held in February. You will be receiving more information
about that meeting in late January.
Preschoolers, and other 4 year olds,
whose parents would like them screened to determine developmental readiness
for kindergarten can call 879-3251 to make an appointment. The dates
for those screenings will be determined at the end of January.
Preschool and Young 5’s students
will tour their kindergarten buildings in April. The teachers will send
information home with the children the week before the visit.
Alternative Ed juniors will be preparing
for the new Michigan Merit Exams and the seniors are working hard to
finish up graduation requirements. Right now, we are expecting nine
students to receive their diplomas on May 18. Graduates will receive
more information about the celebration in late February.
Remember that snow days are announced
on local radio and television stations. A complete listing of those
stations is in the handbook.
Again, welcome to the new year. Hope
it is a happy one for all of you.
Marge
