About
Us
The School District was organized in the early 1900's and presently covers
225 square miles covering all or part of nine townships and one city in
Bay and Gladwin Counties. The district operates under elected school board
(seven members) and provides education to approximately 1,980 students.
The Superintendent of the Pinconning Area School District
is Darren Kroczaleski, who began in September of 2002. Services for K-6
are delivered at three elementary facilities, a grade 7-12 high school/middle
school, and an alternative education facility that also houses a pre-school
program. A new wing at the high school was built in 1997. All K-12 schools
are regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Schools
and Colleges. The district has a pre-kindergarten program available via
the Early Childhood Program. A developmental kindergarten program called
"Young Fives" began in 2003-04, and continues to be a wonderful
service to our community.
The school district is a mixture of agricultural and
suburban areas, and it includes the villages of Estey, Rhodes and Linwood
as well as the City of Pinconning. The district has a strong agricultural
component with soybeans, sugar beets, and pickles as important crops.
The largest nonagricultural employers include AP Parts and Magline, Incorporated
in the city of Pinconning. In addition, significant regional employers
include Dow Corning Corporation (Midland), Dow Chemical Company (Midland),
General Motors Powertrain (Bay City), and Consumers Power Company. Retail
tourism sales make a significant contribution to business on the M-13
and I-75 corridors, and the resurgence of boating, fishing, and family
recreation on Saginaw Bay adds diversity to the economy of the area.
We are a school of choice district with applications taken prior to the
beginning of school and at January of each school year. If you have a
child and would like to attend Pinconning Area Schools, please contact
the district office at 989-879-4556 to get a school of choice form.
