Scholarships

Unless otherwise noted, all of the following scholarship applications are available in the High School Counseling Office

Centralis Scholar or Gold Award Competition

Full tuition. Must have a 3.5 cumulative gpa and plan on attending Central Michigan University to be eligible to compete. Competition is Saturday November 1, 2008 or an alternate day of November 22, 2008. To make a reservation call 1-888-292-5366 or email at cmuadmit@cmich.edu.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award

$1000 award. Must be in grades 9-12 and be very active in community service within the past year. Apply online at www..prudential.com/spirit and submit a printed copy to the Counseling Office. Deadline is October 31, 2008.

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation

$20,000 and $10,000 awards. Must be a high school senior. Awards are based on academic achievement, leadership, and hours of community service. Apply on line at www.coca-colascholars.org
Deadline is October 31, 2008.

Horation Alger Scholarship

Awards range from $2500 to $20,000. Must be a graduating senior, intend to pursue a bachelor's degree, show financial need ( preferably $50,000 or lower adjusted gross income) be involved in co-curricular and community service, and have a minimum 2.0 cumulative gpa. Baker College Career Scholarships

$4,800 scholarship. All seniors who are planning to attend Baker College are eligible to apply. Awards based on academic achievement. Deadline is May 1, 2009.

MEA Scholarship

Must graduate from a Michigan public high school and plan on attending a four-year college, a community college or vocational school. Application deadline is February 8, 2009.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Regional Scholarship

$1000 awards. Must be a high school senior in Bay, Midland, or Saginaw County, have a minimum commutative GPA of 2.0 or higher, and have plans to attend a 2-year or 4-year degree granting academic or vocational program. Selection will be based on the student's character and contributions to the community. Application deadline is November 1, 2008.

MAN Foundation Scholarship

$500 award. Must plan on pursuing a career in a broadcast-related field, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be a Michigan resident. Application deadline is December 31, 2008.
