Dear Parent or Guardian,

The Pinconning Board of Education has approved lessons to be taught on HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection, AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), and other STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) as part of our health curriculum. All public schools are required to teach about HIV, AIDS, and STDs under Michigan law.

The Michigan Departments of Education and Community Health have recommended lessons for students.
These lessons help young people understand these diseases and how to prevent their spread.

Our 8th grade students will be taught the HIV/AIDS curriculum on Monday, May 12, 2008 during Science class. If you have any questions about the curriculum or would like to watch the video being presented to our students please contact Keith Wetters at 989-879-2311.
