The Student Based Health Center located at the Advancement Academy (415 Arthur St) is near completion. We are excited for the opening and the many services that will be available to our students.
Monthly CAC (Community Advisory Council) meetings have been taking place for the past 14 months where all information has been shared and approved. You can view the services provided and not provided in the image.
One of the many benifits of a School Based Health Program is that it allows students needing medical attention to stay in school. Students in our district are sometimes forced to take the entire day of school off due to appointments in the middle of the day where a drive of 45-50 minutes is necessary. These appointments also require a parent to take a day off of work. Our Student Based Health Center will provide many of these services with a student walking across the street and missing considerably less instruction time.
We are working on the logistics of getting our elementary students to the SBHC. Parents will always have the opportunity to take their children and attend the visit with them. If they are unable to bring them, we are considering high school students who have available hours due to dual enrollment or other non-traditional schedules. These high school students would recieve training on everything that would be needed to succesfully and leagally transport our elementary students.
There will be more information and forms to fill out for interested families in the near future. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Kowalczyk.
