Ms. Cartier holding a soccer ball

Hello! I am Coach Cartier, I teach middle and elementary P.E. I am from Port Huron and recently moved to Essexville.

Where did you go to college, and your favorite class

I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in Dec of 2024. I attended a lot of interesting classes being in the P.E. program but I would have to say that my favorite was the dance class. It was so fun to go to a class and get to learn dances and fundamentals of movements. It was also really entertaining to see all of the football players in the class attempt to dance!

When did you know you wanted to be an educator? Was there a big “Aha” moment?

I knew I wanted to be an educator after I coached my first season of volleyball. I have always loved working with kids but when I got the opportunity to teach them something new about the sport or just help new players understand the fundamentals, I realized that I was meant to teach. It also helped me decide on a subject... physical education. Now I get to help students understand the importance of moving their bodies and learn new skills/games everyday!

What would your profession be if you were not a teacher?

If I didn't end up going into education, I would probably be a personal trainer or a nutritionist of some sort. That way I'd still get the chance to help people understand the importance of making healthy decisions.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I like to garden, read, and go for walks. Bonus points if I get to walk while listening to an audio book!

What is your favorite movie or Tv show?

My favorite Tv show would have to be New Girl, I can't even tell you how many times I have rewatched it.

What would we hear if we were riding with you in your car?

If you were riding in my car you would hear the most random combination. A little bit of alternative indie, like Joe P and Briston Maroney. Mixed in with some pop, like Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams. Finishing it off with some good old indie-folk like Noah Kahan and Jonah Kagen.

What is your favorite season or Holiday and why?

My favorite season is fall. I love all of the colors with the trees turning, and the cooler weather.

Why did you choose Pinconning Schools?

I chose Pinconning Schools because I could tell that it was going to be a great place to work with amazing support systems and policies in place to keep both my students and I in a safe learning environment.
